First Pastor/Wife's Anniversary over 30 years ago

Included in this photo are all nine children except for the youngest, Christopher.  The baby is Dorothy, next is Carl, Terry, Cheryl, Deather, Perry, Marva, Noble, and the oldest girl, Bettye.

Rev. Noble was 33 years old and his wife was 29 years old when they began pastoring at the Centerhill Church.  They taught their children as well as their members.  When they went to church Sunday to Sunday, including week nights, the children had to attend.  They lived by the scripture: "As for me and my house, we're going to serve the Lord."

As a result, four children ages 17, 13, 11, and 9 were saved in the same revival at the church where this picture was taken, Centerhill Church of God in Christ of Beria, Texas.  Some had told Supt. Cooper that he couldn't have a prosperous church in this location, but God proved them wrong.  Many lives were transformed through this church.

Enemies fought against the family, but God prevailed.  Supt. Cooper and his wife were pushed aside and ignored sometimes, but God still prevailed.  There was trouble, sometimes, on every hand for this family, but God proved Himself to them and is still proving, providing, blessing, and healing them today!

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all, He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken.  Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.  The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.  Psalm 34:19-22

THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED

Carl Cooper’s Dream

A FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

It was a normal day in the city. People were shopping, eating, drinking, children playing, boys and girls courting, and all the other things that go along with a normal day. I was sitting around being bored as usual and my sisters and brothers were all outside at the back of my brothers (Perry's) house.  Every one of them was there.  Mama and Daddy had came down to greet Marva and her family on their arrival from Los Angeles and Bettye had also came down to get her hair redone.   As it happens, they are all sitting around at the backyard of Perry’s house laughing and talking about old times.

But as for me, I began to feel a very strong sadness and felt like this was going to be our last time together. The first thought that came to my mind was that I was going to die. But I kept these sad inner feelings to myself. What really got me though was when Mama sent some one after me to tell me to come so that we could all pray.

Once she said the Prayer, everyone became uneasy. So just as we bowed our heads, something forced me to say "Mama, it’s too late. That feeling that I had always gotten when I thought of Judgement Day was more than strong now; and when I said that to Mama she looked up at the sky and said "Children, it’s here," and she burst out in tears.

Daddy stood up and raised both hands toward Heaven and looked at us and said "WHO WILL BE ABLE TO STAND." Once he said these words, everything went BLACK and I could hear Chris calling Mama and Daddy ; but I couldn’t see anyone. I had went into a slight stage of shock. All at once, almost by force, my head was guided in the direction in which Mama and Daddy had been standing and I could see the two of them ascending farther and farther in the sky.

Everyone else had disappeared it seemed, but then I looked around and saw Deather easing very slowly off the ground, and I tried to holler at her but it seemed if though my lips were glued together. Cheryl Lynn was on the ground in front of me on her knees saying "Lord please take me with you" and I tried to touch her but I was unable to move. He then told her to stand up and rejoice because her witness was in Heaven and her record was on high. And I mean that Cheryl Lynn must have gotten on that grass and shouted all over that yard.

I then closed my eyes to try and feel his presence, but I was so scared I couldn’t concentrate. When I opened my eyes, Cheryl was about eight feet in the sky above me. I tried to call the Lord to ask him why wouldn’t he speak to me, but nothing would come out of my mouth. Next he called Dorothy, Chris, Perry, Noble, etc.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And thus we shall always be with the Lord.  Therefore comfort one another with these words.  I Thes. 4:15-18

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.  Revelation 21:4

Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.  Revelation 22:14

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last."  Revelation 22:13

Surely I am coming quickly.  Amen.  Even so, come, Lord Jesus!  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.   Amen.  Revelation 22:20-21
